Are You A Boss?

It is the time of the fiery female.

The world is seeing more women advance into higher positions, lead larger teams, start their own businesses, and spearhead movements (think #metoo). Women are stepping off the sidelines and onto the field in bold, badass ways. They’re making shit happen because they’re done trusting that others will.

Women are showing up like a boss.

As women step into the spotlight and claim their own space, they transform the way the world sees women at the helm. The way we (humanity) see women in positions of power — at all levels.

(Sing it with me: “Who runs the world? Girls!”

We’re seeing more Boss Babe, Boss Lady, and Boss Bitch (not my favorite, but hey, maybe for some of you it is) cropping up in our vernacular (and even on Etsy). And it’s not necessarily because ALL women are being promoted to higher leadership positions and/or given more people to manage.

Being a Boss Babe or Boss Lady is about how you show up in life, not just the office. How you show up for others, not just about how you delegate work to team members (assuming you even have any… yeah I see you, you solopreneur, the one that is kicking ass and taking names).

Being a boss is about being in charge of your life.

I’m talking about making decisions, taking action, holding yourself responsible for how you respond to life’s wheelin’ and dealin’.

Being a boss is braving the path.

You know it’s going to bend and twist. You know you might fail but you do it with grace and style and willingness ‘cause you know that failing is learning and learning is growth and growth is what leads to success.

Being a boss is leaning into all that you are.

From your intuition to your gifts to your skill sets, you leverage the hell out of all you’re rockin’. And you’re not afraid to celebrate every single ounce of awesomeness you possess merely because someone else thinks it’s egotistical or showy. Shake what the good Lord gave you (I’m not talking about your body parts, but you can go ahead and shake those, too, while you’re at it). Nobody got anything done by being still, silent, or small.

Being a Boss Lady is being ready for new adventures.

Because you know everything is always evolving. Who you were yesterday isn’t who you’ll be today or tomorrow. You know that there is nothing to be gained by remaining stagnant. There are no new results if not first, new action. Being a boss is pushing yourself to new heights and extending yourself beyond your comfort zone.

Being a boss is helping others rise as you do.

You’re confident. You know who you are. You know what you’re here for, what makes you unique, what it is that you offer. So you don’t need to compete with others. You don’t need to stab the backs of those around you in an effort to get to the top. Instead, you offer your hands. Hands for waving others along in the right direction. Hands for patting your sisters on the back when they done good and for straightening their crowns when you notice it coming off. Hands for hugging them when they’re feeling like they failed.

Being a boss is a choice.

Whether you got that promotion or not… Whether you oversee hundreds of people or none at all … Whether others identify you as the woman in charge …

We’ve got a rising Boss Lady culture because we’ve got more fiery females taking action, paving the way, and modeling what being a boss looks like so others can follow suit.

You can choose to own who you are in your life and in your business …and own it like a boss.

The world will be better off.
